GBWG 2010-AN Update- Just Two Days Left

It’s Friday and the games are going strong, but I am starting to slow down, running out of energy. I haven’t achieved some of the goals I set for myself yet, but I have exceeded my expectations in some categories.

I need more self-discipline, I suppose, I get sidetracked easily, specially when reading the newspaper archives, the history of our county and it’s people are fascinating and I learn something new every time I read them. If there was a category for reading newspaper archives I would have a Platinum!

Here’s my list of accomplishments so far:

1. Platinum
2. Gold,Platinum
3. Gold
4. Platinum
5. Platinum
6. Diamond

I am quite proud of how well I’m doing, considering my attention span, ;-).

GBWG 2010 – AN Update

I’m off to a slow start, Valentine’s Day was a washout, I was too busy. I have 1 citation for “Go Back and Cite Your Sources”, I need to get this done anyway, this event gives me some incentive. I have a bad habit of adding Media to my RM4 program and not taking the time to fill in the Sources form at the same time.

I have started a few posts in draft for the “Write, Write, Write” event. I have already made an About Me and Surname page before the games began, so I will have to think of something else for that task.

I am gathering my hard copies together and organizing my folders on my computer for “Organize Your Research”. I have to move my NP archive clippings to one folder, I have them three different places right now.

After the folders are organized I’ll back them up on my external HD. I plan to scan my hard copies and photos onto DVD and my external HD for the “Back Up Your Research” event.
.

In the “Reach Out and Perform Genealogical Acts of Kindness” event, I’ve helped a fellow Twitterer with a census look-up for parents’ names and was contacted on Facebook by message about how our families were connected, I sent an obit to her, she was happy because her grandfather was named in the obit.

“In the Expand Your Knowledge” event, I am going to make an “I Remember” page today for my niece, who passed away last March.

I’ll step up the pace today and hopefully I’ll be able to keep it up for the rest of the games.
